2020 Teachers New Professional Credentials

We are an inclusive organisation. We accept teacher that has 200 hour or higher yoga training from a registered or non-registered YA-International school if their teacher training meet our Standards.

Unlike Yoga Alliance (USA), we accept ALL yoga teacher graduates onto our registry, regardless of whether they’ve attended an approved training school or not, as long as the training matches up to our pre-decided standards.

A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) credential is earned by yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance Standards.

A Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) credential is earned by yoga teachers who have successfully completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training and have taught a certain number of hours.

We grandfather senior teachers that have been teaching over 10 years full time but do not have formal certification. Resume’ and letters of reference are mandatory.

Yoga therapists and Bikram teachers are welcome to join our registry.

What is Required to Register

  1. A minimum RYT-200 hour training from a registered or non-registered YA-International school (RYS). *Graduates of a non-registered school can convert membership to us if their teacher training meet our Standards

  2. The first 200 hour must be completed with the same school as multiple trainings cannot be combined to meet the 200-hour requirements. *Additional training does not have to be from the same school.

Teachers with a 200 hours qualification can apply for RYT 250 PLUS if they have completed a minimum 50 hours teacher training, continuing education programs or have taught 50 hours yoga classes to students since qualifying. *A Statutory Declaration is mandatory to confirm teaching hours accrued.

  4. Complete a First Aid Course with a recognised training organisation.

  5. Maintain high Standards of professional conduct and competence at all times.

  6. Adhere to the Yoga Alliance-International’s Code of Ethics for RYT as part of their effort to help preserve the traditional legacy of Yoga and improve the quality of Yoga teaching and practice in the modern world.

**Continuing education activities are mandatory only for teachers interested to advance to higher-membership levels. Read Here
