Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT)

The globally accepted professional credential for Yoga Teachers

Yoga Alliance Australia - RCYTYoga teachers members or non-members of the association can register as a RCYT if they have successfully completed a 50 contact hours minimum Children’s training program with a Yoga Alliance-International or a similar recognised organisation.

RCYT courses are aimed at both yoga teachers or non-yoga persons working in a professional capacity who would like to incorporate children’s yoga into their profession..

Anyone doing these courses can join us as a “Associate Yoga Student-RCYT” or “Associate Member-RCYT” depending on their professional background.


Criteria for Registering as a RCYT

Applicant must have completed 45 minimum contact hours Children yoga training in the presence of a ERYT-RCYT

Non-Yoga Persons that holds one or more qualifications listed below

  • Counsellor, occupational therapist, social worker, school teacher, special education teacher, teacher aide, school support officer, health and education professional, mental health worker, speech pathologist, early childhood educator, physiotherapist (students or assistants are welcome), psychologist (students are welcome), child psychologist (students are welcome) paediatricians (students are welcome).

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Public Liability Insurance.

  • No hours of yoga classes attendance or teaching experience are required.

Non-Yoga Persons that do not hold a vocational qualification

  • Must have been practising yoga for at least six months prior or after applying for Yoga Alliance membership. *Evidence of yoga classes attendance are required by submission of Statutory Declaration that confirms the number of total hours and sites address attended

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Public Liability Insurance.

When you write a statutory declaration, you should include

  1. Your full name

  2. Your address

  3. Your occupation

  4. A statement that you "do solemnly and sincerely declare"

Yoga Teachers

  • Must hold a 200 hr or higher yoga teaching qualification

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Public Liability Insurance
