Yoga Alliance® new Standards RYS-250hr PLUS and RYS-500hr PLUS designed to meet everyone's needs!
In January 2017, to elevate the profession of yoga teaching Yoga Alliance-International Australia followed by its associates Yoga Alliance (Italia/NZ/Singapore/International), was the FIRST Alliance organisation to review and update its Standards system based on the proliferation of low quality yoga teacher training, and inadequately trained yoga teachers. The purpose of the new Standards is to set out clear expectations of effective practice in yoga practice, education and training.
The 2017 new Standards: “RYS-250hr PLUS” and “RYS-500hr PLUS" define the professional requirements of yoga teachers underpin good teaching practice in the sector.
The professional standards are set across six sections each of equal importance: each links to and supports the other sections.
The Yoga Alliance’s new Spirit of Yoga Standards system is to include a school in the RYS (Registered Yoga School) Registry only when its Yoga Teacher Training Program has a definite, pre-defined curriculum of study, is taught by an ERYT member of the association and contains 90% contact hours.
We believe the new Standards will benefit yoga professionals and encourage training providers to develop their own unique curriculum of study.
Whereas we will continue to accept RYS-200 registration applications, we encourage members and non-members (must sign up) of the association to UPGRADE to the new Standards.
